Police Dog Let Loose on a Crowd of Peaceful Civilians, Including Women and Children After Shooting an Unarmed Man Twice in the Back

The video below marks a new low in police conduct. The final horrific incident on display allegedly was sparked by the suspicious killing of a man who witnesses say did nothing more than turn to run from police.

After “an unruly crowd” — as the reporter below conveniently states — gathered to ask questions and express anger at what was perceived to be a senseless killing, the officers further proved that those who were gathered had valid concerns about their local police force.  The police rioted in response, police quickly opened fire with rubber bullets, and even set a dog loose on a woman with a baby stroller. The woman was able to grab her baby before the dog arrived, but she was slightly injured, while a man can be seen in the video [below] having his arm bitten. Read the rest of this entry →

SFPD Shoot Unarmed Man In The Back While Handcuffed

Witnesses tell the tale of a handcuffed #OccupySF protestor being shot twice in the back by a member of the San Francisco Police Department.

As the police state continues to intensify, instances where members of the citizenry are being treated like second-class citizens and either spied on, wrongfully targeted and arrested, tazed and/or shot also continues to increase.

Such was the case Wednesday morning as eye-witness video, via #OccupySF Repressed Media and uploaded to Youtube, captured the victim, in what appears to be downtown San Francisco, being loaded into an ambulance, lying motionless and still in the handcuffs.

While asking what took place, one witness explained the circumstance, prompting the videographer to gain a better view, allowing him to see the victim being loaded onto the ambulance.

Based on the video statement, the incident took place around 10:30 AM PST, in front of the “Federal” Reserve building at 101 Market Street. According to the statement,

A man had just been shot and killed by SFPD by the SAFEWAY near Sue Bierman Park. OccupySF Repressed Media responded and witnessed paramedics and SFFD moving a body into an ambulance. Eyewitnesses report SFPD shot and killed an apparently unarmed Asian or Hispanic man twice in the back WHILE HE WAS ALREADY IN HANDCUFFS. WTF? #FTP We later discovered that the witness in this video actually saw the incident. #OccupySF Repressed Media was the first camera on the scene.  (video below) Read the rest of this entry →

The two faces of NATO: PR spin versus video reality

The two faces of NATO: PR spin versus video reality

Growing body of videos and eyewitness accounts in wake of NATO summit exposes vast police violence to defend military arm of 1%. See videos below.

While the Obama and Emanuel administrations are congratulating themselves on a public relations coup, NATO protesters are documenting the wave of police violence unleashed on them in recent days — particularly Sunday, when protesters sought to exercise a right they thought they had but didn’t: to speak truth to power.

City and federal officials have doggedly stuck to the spin about a dangerous band of ‘anarchists’ who started trouble on Sunday. But it’s clear from the videos below — and dozens more that have begun to surface on the web — that the only thugs in black on May 20 were the police. And the police unloaded, narrowly missing 75-year-old peace protester Nan Wigmore, who was caught in the crush at the front line of the police violence.

The harrowing scenes in the first two videos below, shot by Substance News contributor John Kugler, show police hammering on protesters with billy clubs and their hands, feet and bodies. Protesters clearly shout “There’s nowhere to go!” as the police line wails on them to push them away from the intersection of Cermak and Michigan. The protesters’ goal? To take their opposition to NATO to the summit itself — a goal denied by the protest ‘permit’ which the City of Chicago and the Obama administration ultimately ‘granted.’ That permit failed to meet even the minimum request of some organizers to be within ‘site and sound’ of the government bureaucrats’ deliberations.

Chicagoan John Whitfield spoke with his neighbor, Substance News reporter and videographer John Kugler, who shot the video of the police assault — and was attacked himself by the police. Cops struck Kugler, who was wisely wearing a helmet, four times on the head; Kugler also lost a shoe in the assault.

“Everything was fine until riot police kettled protesters and created chaos,” wrote Kugler in his Substance account. Read the rest of this entry →

BREAKING: Police Fire Projectiles at Students from Occupy UC Riverside Protesting Board of Regents

January 20, 2012 in Headline, Occupy

The cease-fire against California students appears to be over.

Students from UC Riverside, protesting today’s Board of Regents meeting, were confronted by riot police, with multiple reports indicating they were fired upon with paint-filled bullets and other projectiles that injured several at the scene.

The students, many of whom are associated with Occupy UC Riverside, today protested and (ultimately) shut down a Board of Regents meeting where tuition hikes were planned to be discussed.

The meeting was adjourned when students who managed to get inside refused to be silent in the face of skyrocketing tuition costs. After the meeting was closed, the board members were escorted off of campus amidst what were, for most of the day, incredibly peaceful and nonviolent protests.
